Understanding Your Electrical Panel

How to read your panel and prepare for an upgrade chat.

What the panel does

Your panel directs electricity around the property and protects each circuit. Knowing which switch controls which area makes everyday life easier and helps you explain a problem clearly.

What to note before you call

Look for the age of the unit, any labels left by previous work, and whether switches trip occasionally or every time an appliance runs. A short note and a photograph from a normal standing position are usually enough.

What an upgrade conversation covers

We talk through the size of the supply, the circuits you need now, and anything planned next, such as a new cooker or a charging point. The proposal then sets out the work, the testing, and the timing.
